PQRS

With more than 250 quality measures and several reporting methods to choose from, your practice may be challenged by finding a PQRS path that will yield the best results. Many providers participate to simply avoid a penalty, but a more sophisticated approach is to take into consideration your specialty, relevant measures, EHR capabilities, practice workflow, and results from previous participation. You want to ensure the metrics that result from your program are an accurate depiction of your center’s quality of care.

Choose from various options to report PQRS — see the table below. Notice how methods vary by practice size.

Generally speaking, PQRS requires that eligible providers report on nine quality measures that cover at least three National Quality Strategy domains. Although there is technically no threshold for performance rates on these measures, performance will play a much bigger role in determining a practice’s value-based modifier.
